POSTOPERATIVE NURSING CARE PLANNING - NECESSITY AND NURSE`S RESPONSIBILITIES

Abstract


Our aim was to analyze and appreciate the needs of patients in the postoperative period and to offer a plan for nursing care after surgery. We used a documentation method such as analysis of scientific literature of the problem, medical standards, and hospital records. The planning of nursing care in the postoperative period is a science-based method- ology for the organization of professional activities in the surgical division. As a result, the patient becomes an active partner in the process of his individual treatment. Timely and accurate care of patients would be important to maintain its comfort, shorter hospital stay and faster recovery. Analyzing the scientific literature on the problem available and work experience gained in surgical divisions enabled us to present our own development plan of nursing care in the postoperative period. The planning of nurse`s activity assists her in providing of timely, targeted healthcare relevant to the patient and outlines the importance and significance of the activities carried out in the surgical ward.
