Techniques To Overcome Pain And Stress From Medical Manipulations

Abstract

Pain is defined as the fifth vital sign reporting the patient's condition. Many medical manipulations and examinations are associated with pain. Its effective control not only relieves discomfort, which is considered a central concept in the art of nursing and midwifery, but also improves the patient's quality of life. Pain management can also be achieved by assisting the patient in coping with sensory and emotional distress due to actual pain and the fear of it. The report presents some of the techniques that are possible to apply: cryotherapy, injection techniques, training related to correct breathing, distraction techniques, appropriate professional communication tailored to the individual, specific characteristics of the patient.
