Abstract

Contemporary academic language teaching is an element of a complex educational process. It cannot be analyzed, developed and optimized outside the context of information and communication technologies. Imperative requirements in this respect are imposed not only by the current European directives but also by the learners themselves who are described as digital natives born in a digital world for whom the computer language of digits and internet is `mother tongue`. Blended learning is a term used to depict the effective combination of various methods of teaching both in a face-to-face and computer-based environment which in an appropriate consequence and ratio help the learners acquire the necessary new knowledge and skills more effectively. The paper is an attempt on behalf of a group of authors from Varna Medical University at constructing a process of teaching Bulgarian to 2nd year students of Medicine following the English Language Program. The method of Blended Learning is used alongside the transformation of the students` academic program and the teaching resources to achieve its implementation.
