Abstract
This paper is provoked by a specific teaching situation with foreign dental students. The report is based on a video that illustrates a non-verbal dialogue created by a pair of students on a specific dental problem and its verbal decryption by their fellow group members. The direction of the dialogue from non-verbal encoding to verbal decoding is extremely motivating for students and works towards developing and improving their communicative skills needed in dental practice. In the process of reproduction through non-verbal signs, students rely on a variety of language structures, use different speech variants, correct grammatical inaccuracies in the speech, and seek to extract more information from the given setting. The overall implementation of the communicative situation demonstrates the characteristics of a specific training in dental communication and has its place in the teaching of dental students.
