This paper discusses the importance of four language skills - listening, speaking, reading and writing in the undergraduate engineering course.
In order to keep up with a new era of globalization, engineering students require an ever-increasing range of skills. The important thing is to provide students with practical knowledge that they will be able to apply after completing the course: speaking in technical English, listening and comprehension, technical writing, and reading and understanding technical publications.
The research study examines students` perceptions towards the use of language skills for understanding, explaining and doing engineering. The results of the research show a strong interest in taking an essential career-related course and strengthening necessary English knowledge in order to be ready for their future jobs.
