Abstract

Myocardial infarction in the absence of obstructive coronary artery disease is found in up to 6% of patients with acute coronary syndrome who are referred for coronary angiography. The incidence of myocardial infarction with non-obstructive coronary arteries (MINOCA) is higher in women and leads to increased mortality and nonfatal myocardial infarction. The possible mechanisms of MINOCA are atherosclerotic plaque disruption, spontaneous coronary artery dissection, coronary spasm, embolism, and microvascular dysfunction. We present a case report of a young female patient with ST-elevation MINOCA.
