Abstract

The most common odontogenic cyst is the radicular cyst, which arises secondary to pulpal necrosis of a tooth following endodontal infection or periodontitis. In most cases the radicular cyst is with asymptomatic course except the cases with secondary infection. These lesions are thus intimately associated with the rootapex of a tooth and on radiography most radicular cyst appear as round unilacular lucent lesion in the periapical region and the lytic area is bounded by a thin sclerotic rim. We present a clinical case of radicular cyst with large size and persistence of 18 years but asymptomatic course. The chosen method of treatment is radical extirpation of the cyst with extraction of the causal tooth.
