Bilateral cochlear implantation

Abstract

Recent years world trend in has placing two hearing aids, respectively two cochlear implants. Bilateral implantation and binaural prosthetics have great advantages in localizing sound, adopting speech in a noisy environment and interacting with several interlocutors.
The article highlights the positive aspects of bilateral implantation. A brief historical overview is made. The financial procedure in Bulgaria is monitored with the implantation of one or two implants. Last but not least, there is a suggested observation of patients on whom a second implant is placed. In some cases, a second implant is placed after more than ten years and in others within 2 to 4 years. Surveillance and data received posed questions to which we should direct our future research.
