Foreign bodies in the airways pose a serious diagnostic and therapeutic challenge even nowadays. The initiating symptoms can present acute and dramatic with dyspnea, asphyxia or even death or they can develop over weeks to months, leading to a whole array of complications. Even in the modern era of high technology, the early diagnosis can still be quite difficult. According to most of the contemporary autors even the positive medical history by itself shoud be a reasonable cause for bronchoscopy.
