The aim of this article is to give brief review of the physiology and pathology of the tubal tonsil. In children, the hyperplasia of the pharyngeal lymphoid tissues can cause nasal obstruction, breathing disorders during sleep and take part in the pathogenesis of the chronic rhinosinuitis and the otitis media. Until now, it is believed that the main cause for these disorders is the adenoid hypertrophy. Certain authors claim, that this pathology can occur also by the solitary hypertrophy of the tubal tonsil. The main methods of diagnostics, as well as the contemporary treatment procedures for its hypertrophy are considered.
