Ectopic teeth in ORL praxis

St. Stoyanov, D. Skerleva

Abstract

Ectopic teeth can be found even outside of the maxilla-facial area. Their presence is an uncommon phenomenon with incompletely clarified etiology. Although not difficult to diagnose, this condition often remains unnoticed, due to its asymptomatic course or the diversity of clinical signs.
We present a clinical case of a patient with nasal polyposis and intranasal ectopic tooth, operated at the ENT clinic of MI-MI.
Left without treatment the ectopic teeth can cause serious problems and lead to different complications. The diagnosis is based on the thorough ENT examination and imaging. The preferred approach for extirpation of intranasal teeth is endoscopic surgery.
