Abstract

62 children were treated for the period of 13 years in Pediatric section of ORL Department, University Hospital "Tzaritza Joanna" Medical University - Sofia. 523 classical microlaryngosurgical procedures and 38 surgeries with CO2-laser were performed. Neither complications related to anesthesia, nor during the surgery have been observed. Late postoperative complications have been discovered in 6 cases (9. 7%) - 4 children with anterior laryngeal comissure adhesions and 2 cases with laryngeal stenosis. The treatment of adhesions was performed with CO,-laser and resulted in complete recovery of respiration and phonation. In cases with laryngeal stenosis was performed surgical technique which involves anterior laryngofissure and application of Montgomery stent-dilatator, followed by a regular removal ofstenotic areas with CO2-laser. In both cases a complete recovery of respiration has been achieved, while the voice remained dysphonic.
