Abstract

Случаят на д-р Серджио Канаверо и идеята му за рансплантация на глава беше очакван експеримент през 2017 г. Той беше централна тема за обсъждане в рамките на Етиката на общественото здраве, благодарение на редица публични изявления, относно амбицията на италианския хирург за осъществяване на трансплантацията. Цел на доклада е анализиране на казуса на д-р Канаверо и акцентиране на ролята на Етиката на общественото здраве за защита на населението. Прогресът на медицината се основава върху експерименти с хора, но общественото здраве трябва да действа
като регулатор за подобни експерименти. Развитието на медицината трябва да бъде съчетано с основните етични
принципи. Колкото и любопитен да е експериментът на д-р Канаверо от научна гледна точка, a провеждането му би
довело до научен прогрес, но също така ще доведе до морален регрес към времена от историята на медицината, в които
научното познание не се е ръководело от морални принципи.
