Investigation is made on a series of 51-unbred fеmale albino rats, distributed as follows: 15 controls, 10 - treated with corticosterone, 12 - оvariéetomized and 14 - ovariectomized and treated with corticosterone. Corticosterone was administered by intramuscular injections over a 7-day period at daily dose 1 mg/100 g body weight. The ovariectomized animals were investigated 21/2 months after the opération. It was established that following oophorectomyt the activity of blood amylase is lowered, whilst that of the pancreas remains unaltered. The introduction of corticosterone in ovariectomized rats brings about statistically reliable increase of the blood amylase activity and a tendency towards rising in intact female rats. Pancreatic amylase, under the coditions thus outlined, does not undergo statistically relibbe chandes.
