Abstract

The influence of manganese upon the activity of cysteine sulfinate producing enzume in the brain and liver of albino rats is traced up under conditions of experimentally induced manganese poisoning. Poisoning is conducted perorally with 3.6 % solution of MnCI24H20, atdose 25 ml/kg Mn2+ daily, over a period of 60 days. The influence of manganese is studied in dunamics at 20 % and 60 days, and after 60-day-long recovery period.

At 20 days a tendency is established towards increased activity of the enzyme, but the subseguent investigations reveal an inhibitory effect of manganese. The hapatic enzymes are rather more significantly influenced.

The possible explanations of this effect are discussed.
