A historical review is made of the problem for the secret in the medical profession. Some of the concepts in this connection, postulated in the bourgeois medical literature, are criticized. The insufficient theoretical substantiation of ethical problems in the medical profession in Bulgaria and in the socialist countries is stressed, stating furthermore that it leads to a certain extent of underestimation of medical practice.
Organizational measures are proposed for the everyday medical practice in view to keeping the professional secret of medical doctors.
The concepts expressed by certain medicolegal authorities are supported with reference to morally justified motivation for infraction of the medical profession secret. The obligation of keeping the professional secret has markedly social nature.
