In a series comprising 18 female white albino rats, investigated on the 7th post-adrenelectomy day, a 48.2% reduction of the activity of blood amylase and unaltered pancreatic amylase activity is established as compared to the control animals.
The adrenelectomy in previously ovariectomized rats (18) accounts for a 42.6% decrease of blood amylase activity whereas the pancreatic amylase remains unaltered.
The treatment of adrenelectomized rats with estron, at 0.4 mg per lOOgr daily dose, over a period of 7 days, does not lead to changes in the activity of blood amylase; instead, a decrease is established of the pancreatic amylase activity as compared to adrenelectomized, not treated with estron animals.
Discussion is made of the experimental data obtained.
