The author reports hitherto unpublished data on a female patient, affected by slight, anicteric form of the Weil-Wasilev disease. The strain isolated L. icterohaemorrhagiae AB (L. Varna 2) caused a „gripoid` illness of the type of benign leptospiroses with slight renal lesion.
The isolated leptospire strain appears to be weakly pathogenetic insofar guinea pigs are concerned and did not cause the illnesse on the first passage.
It is assumed that contamination occurred by direct contact with slaughtered swines in the slaughterhouse of the city of Varna.
