Abstract

The authors report the results of ten experiments on dogs - resection of the aorta and substituting the aortal defect for a plastic endoprosthesis. Good results are obtained in four of the dogs. The conclusion is reached that the most appropriate and suitable vascular suture is the Blalock one, the most recommendable suture material is the fine silk thread and lastly it is pointed out that the employment of teflon and lavsan endoprostheses in defects of the aorta yields satisfactory results.
