The effect of coffein оn amylase activity is studied in theblооd of castrated male rats. The experimeпts are carried Out оn а group of 15 control animals, 10 castrated rats an 10 castrate 1 rats with subcutaneously injected coffein, in doses 15 mg per kilogram body wefght. The activity of amylase is determined according to the modified bу the authors method or Engelhardt-Gerchuk.
The statistical elaboration of the results shows, that in gelt rats, checked three months after the castration, the amylase activity is with 33, 8 % lower as compared to that of the control group.
In the animals which were given а single coffein dose of 15 mg per kilogram body weight, three months after the castration, he activity in question is intensified with 25 % as related to the castrated, untreated with coffein rats, with а tendency of reaching the level of the coпtrol group.
It is assumed that the created in the central nervous system, under the effect of coffein, excitation proress arcoun ts for а more intensified secretion of androgenic hormones from the adrenal cortex in the castrated rats. The latter hormones exert аn activying effect on amylase.
