The experience is reported of the Infectious Clinic at the Higher Medical Institute in Varna in the diagnosis and treatment of epidemic hepatitis during the last three years. For this period a total of 2,346 patients suffering from acute hepatitis were admitted to hospital, the prevailing part of them being dismissed from hospital in a state of clinical health. Lethal issue occurred in only 3 patients - lethality rates comprising 0.12 per cent. To make precise diagnosis the authors recommend, as far as various categories of hepatitis patients are concerned, the employment of 4 standard paraclinical test combinations. A brief description is also given of the fundamental therapeutic schemes, which the authors applied in the treatment of their own cases. To improve the illustration of clinical facts a table is presented, containing more detailed data of studies of the clinical material for 1964 (802 cases of epidemic hepatitis — lethality, 0 per cent).
