The case history is described of a patient with chrornophobic adenoma of the hypophysis, as well as the light and electron microscopic findings.
Electron microscopic studies establish the presence of abundant secretory granules containing thyreotropic hormone and single granules with gonadotropic and somatotropic hormones.
The pathogenesis is discussed of the fundamental vegetative and endocrinic symptomatics - the adiposogenital syndrome and arterial hypertension in connection with the hormonal content of the adenoma, the jack of ovaries and the condition of the thyroid gland, as well as the connections between the hypothalamus and the hypophysis.
The importance is also discussed of impaired ovarial function and the thyroid, on the one hand, and the possibilities of a viral origin of the tumor, on the other.
