The purpose of this communication is to explore nurse students` opinion about and attitudes to the need of hand skin care of as part of the hand hygiene of medical staff and their behavior in this respect. A complete analysis of the literature and survey method were applied. The opinion of an anonymous group of 30 students from the 4th course of the specialty of nursing` at the Medical University of Varna was analyzed by direct inquiry in June 2012. Most nurse students recognized the need of hand skin care and they did. it permanently (64%). Very few respondents took care of their hand skin with appropriate medical cosmetics (14%). A quarter of respondents were inconsistent in the care of skin on their hands, and very few of the respondents did not use cosmetics at all (12%). Usage of knowledge, skills and habits in nurse students for hand skin care will help the implementation of high quality, effective, efficient and safe patient care.
