Ship crews are closed communities of people who work for a long period in confined space. Thus human behavior and relationships change. Companies are obliged to ensure good working conditions and pro- pose clear rules, which build good labor relations be- tween the crew and the ship owner. Seafarers welfare is becoming an important issue that the entire shipping industry should pay attention to. With limited con- nectivity crew welfare often gets unaddressed. The hu- man factor is the most important component ensuring maritime safety. As expected in the next five years, the communications capabilities onboard of ships will be the similar to those of PLMN.
