Dobrinka Damyanova

Abstract

Introduction: The protective factors are: Optimal Fluoride Prophylaxis; Good oral hygiene; Protective properties of saliva; Proper and complete nutrition; Regular prophylactic examinations twice a year.

Objective: Establish the main defensive factors of temporary tooth cavities in the study group of children through a survey of their parents.

Material and methods: Assessment of standard defensive factors of dental caries development. Assessment of the individual specific protective factors of each child.

Object of observation: Parents of children from Varna and Varna district. Survey volume is 100 individuals. Units of observation: Patients from 3 to 6 years of age requiring prophylaxis and treatment of dental caries of the temporary dentition.

After processing the results and determining the highlights, the actual study was performed by processing the data with a mathematical-statistical processing package SPSS v 20.0.

Results: Respondents report that their children use 6.30% of their fluoride toothpaste for their age and exercise parental control over hygiene and the manner of holding 9.50%.

A proven and high risk factor is optimal endogenous fluorine prophylaxis. Only 37.50% of children are at low risk.

Professional local fluorinated prophylaxis and non-invasive treatment in clinical settings have only 10.0% of the study children. For 93.60% of the children surveyed, the incidence of toothbrushes during the day is a higher risk factor. Prophylactic examinations only once a year are conducted by parents in 97,30% of the children enrolled.

Conclusion: We found a statistically significant difference between the respondents in terms of opinion formation and behavior on basic issues related to prevention, oral hygiene, preventive and non-invasive treatment of caries of temporary teeth.
