Underage parents and extramarital birth rate

The article describes the results of the empirical study carried out in 2017, covering 68 underage single mothers in the maternity wards of the university hospitals in Sofia, Plovdiv, and Stara Zagora.

The overall assessment of the issues resulting from the extramarital birth by minors for which solution is needed leads to the logical conclusion that both the underage single mothers and their children constitute a particularly risk group that needs special state support.
