Collected and analyzed is information and personal experience of the activities and duties of the board physician in diseases related to high or low ambient temperatures.
Immediate measures to cope with effects of high temperatures include: hydration, cooling and application of Basic Life Support Techniques (BLS).
In case of low temperature problems, the injured person is moved to a warm room where wet clothing is removed and he is covered with warm blankets. Conscious patients are given hot sweetened beverages orally.
Patients in a worse condition after frostbite are transferred immediately - in a lying position, due to the danger of orthostatism. Oxygen is supplied - 4-6 l/min. and infusion therapy is started with crystalline solutions warmed to room temperature.
