Indications and optimal terms for primary hemarthroplasty in hip fractures

Abstract

Internal femoral neck fracture occurs predominantly in adult patients over 75 years of age and accounts for 65% of all bone fractures and 90% of femoral fractures. The femoral neck fracture in this patient group includes 15%-25% of all patients with locomotor injuries received for hospital treatment. With the increase in age, an increase in the number of these fractures was also found. The indication for primary hemiprosthesis in the patients at the Orthopedic Department at St. Anna University Hospital in Varna was based on the classification of Garden.
