Abstract

Introduction: Today‘s beliefs of authors in the field of medicine logically count dental treatment, which changes the orofacial look of patients, as a plastic surgery. It will always have an important role in their lives. Often neglected, dental health surely can affect it. Treating a patient with porcelain laminate veneers is widely used because the method is proven to spare excessive preparation of hard tooth tissues, shielding the periodontium, with indications exceeding the contraindications, demanded by the patients. However, the operator should be precise in following the clinical and laboratory protocol.
Materials and Methods: The following study was conducted among tens of publications and books in Bulgarian and English language by authors from our country and abroad. Attention was drawn to their choice of a treatment method when porcelain laminate veneers were applicable compared to other ways of restoring the perfection of a healthy dentition.
Results: It was concluded again that the dental treatment with porcelain laminate veneers is one of the most biological ways to restore an imperfection of the dentition. Sparing the excessive teeth preparation preserves the mechanical stability of the dentition. The supragingival preparation margin does not pose a threat to gingival tissues. The preparation technique must be followed precisely, which includes finishing and polishing the prepared tissues and removing any sharp edges - playing the role of stress concentrators. The smooth and clear preparation borders hold the veneer in place. There is no need to whiten the teeth if you can place porcelain laminate veneers. The impression technique is excercised by using aditive silicones and polyether impression materials - both proven their mechanical and working properties.
Conclusion: The aesthetic dental look will always be of importance to patients. They will continue demanding more biological ways to treat the faults in their dentition and dentists should follow those requirements firmly.
