Short-term Psychotherapeutic Techniques In Mentally Ill Patients

Miglena Kalendzhieva

Abstract

Тhis topic is related to improving the efficiency in conducting group psychotherapeutic work in clinical psychiatric conditions. Despite its development and multiple approaches to group psychotherapy, problems with its verifiability and efficiency remain unaffected due to the lack of objective indicators that meet the criteria to assess them.
The aim of this study is to review short-term psychotherapeutic techniques and their ability to adapt to psychiatric conditions as well as the consideration of the conditions that determine the effectiveness and efficiency of group psychotherapy in a clinical environment.
The main goals that therapists are trying to achieve in patient sessions are the successful readaptation (hospital discharge), obtaining insights (understanding their condition and peculiarities) and improving the overall social functioning of the participants. The work on these goals is taking place under the specific conditions of the hospital environment, which poses a challenge to psychotherapists. This paper explores some of these features.
