The aim of the present work is to study students from 7th to 12th grade from small towns in three areas: Varna (high school in the village of Vetrino), Dobrich (high school in the town of General Toshevo), and Shumen (high school in the town of Smyadovo), and determine the role of the school nurse and the nurse in the drug addiction prevention care unit, as well as their joint work on the problem. A survey method (direct individual anonymous questionnaire), documentary method, statistical data of students from 7th to 12th grade, statistics from the National Center for Addictions, and analysis of the available literature were applied. The survey was conducted in the period January-April 2018. The results reflect the opinion of the school nurses surveyed that they were not sufficiently prepared to cope with the drug addiction problem and would like to have "exchange of experience" with the nurses in the hospital. They also support the need for common efforts of all who are involved in the drug addiction problem. The nurses are willing to partner in various initiatives related to drug addiction prevention.
