Broken Heart Syndrome - Myth, Metaphor Or Reality

Abstract

Usually, in every person's mind, the image of a „broken heart" appears with a jagged line through it. But in real life, the broken heart can really lead to symptomatic heart effects. The broken heart syndrome is a medical condition and an example of the vulnerability of this organ of the human body. The stress that causes it has many faces and manifestations relating to the body's reactions to things that it perceives as abnormal. These anomalies can be sudden physiological changes - high body temperature, dehydration, pain, low blood sugar levels, or emotionally stressful events - death of a loved one or divorce, separation, betrayal or romantic rejection, etc. The syndrome is characterized by initial signs of acute myocardial infarction. The purpose of the scientific research is to investigate the awareness of respondents about broken heart syndrome and their need for further information on the issue.
