Abstract
The activity is focused on helping the woman, family and community to achieve optimal health and life. The midwife plays a central role in caring for women with low risk. Effective, safe and high-quality obstetric care is crucial to the well-being of the mother, the baby and the society as a whole. In this article we analyzed the current issues relating to the activity. The aim of this study was to reveal the views of midwives on some of the problems encountered in its operation and their vision for the future development of the profession. The survey was conducted among 23 midwives working on the territory of the city Vratsa. The results show that during daily activities the midwife has to overcome social and economic problems, work with numerous medical records, with modern equipment and computer technology. Most of the respondents (67.8%) shared that with the support of the state and the patients it would be possible to improve the effectiveness of their work.
