Moxa therapy (moxibustion) is a part of Traditional Chinese medicine. The treatment is based on burning of dried plant materials, applied in different forms, very close to the surface of the skin (usually in acu-points). The intention is to warm and intense the flow of Qi for achieving Ying and Yang balance.
The heat of moxibustion impacts the human health status by normalizing the function of organs and systems. This also causes positive changes in the psycho-emotional status – improving the mood, enhancing daily activities and working capacity. The effect comes instantly or later according to the body reactivity. Moxibustion is usually used in combination with acupuncture.
The aim of this article is to study the application and effectiveness of moxa therapy as a part of the treatment plan. Moxibustion is appropriate for self-treatment and dispelling the influence of pathogenic factors.
