The COVID-19 Pandemic and Concequences for the Kidneys

Ivelina Dudrenova

Abstract

The consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic have an adverse effect on human health. Evidence suggests that patients with renal disease, those on renal replacement therapy patients, and recipients of renal transplantation have a more severe course of coronavirus infection. Respectively, patients with severe COVID-19 are at an increased risk of acute renal impairment with short-term and possibly long-term consequences for the kidneys.

Keywords
