Focus and Scope
Biomedical Reviews publishes state-of-the-science Reviews and Dance Round (a form of short, position papers) focused on disease-oriented molecular cell biology, presented in concise form.
Peer Review Process
Contributors to Reviews as well as Dance Rounds are, in general, invited by the Editors and the Editorial Board, but idea proposals for Reviews and Dance Rounds are welcome. Prospective authors should send a brief summary, citing key references, including their own, to the Editors or a member of the Editorial Board. Submission of full-length articles without prior consultation is not prefered. Manuscripts are peer-reviewed by the Editors, Editorial Board members, and/or external experts before final decisions regarding publication are made. All material in Biomedical Reviews represents the opinions of the authors and does not reflect opinions of the Bulgarian Society for Cell Biology, the Editors, the Editorial Board, or the institutions with which the authors are affiliated.
The entire editorial workflow is performed using the online manuscript tracking system in the following steps:
- The submitted manuscript is checked in the editorial office whether it is suitable to go through the normal peer review process.
- If deemed suitable, the manuscript is sent to 3 editors for peer-review. The choice of editors depends on the subject of the manuscript, the areas of expertise of the editors, and their availability.
- Each editor will have 4 weeks to provide evaluation of the manuscript. The editor may recommend publication, request revision by specifying parts of the manuscript that need to be improved, or provide a written critique of why the manuscript should not be published.
- If the majority of the editorial evaluations recommend rejection, the manuscript will be rejected. If the majority of the editorial evaluations recommend publication, the manuscript will be published in a revised form provided that the authors successfully answer the critics received. Typically, the Editor-in-Chief is the final authority on all editorial decisions. For manuscripts submitted to announced special issues the final authority are appointed Guest Editors.
Publication of Biomedical Reviews is truly a collaborative process. We appreciate the brain-and-heart partnership having with our authors and are committed to further maintaining the excellence of the Journal.
