Abstract

Retinopathy of prematurity (RP) is a vasoproliferative retinal disease that occurs in premature infants—those with small gestational age and low birth weight. The disease has many forms and manifestations—from mild, non-interventional cases, to severe conditions leading to severe visual impairment. Peripheral avascular retina (PAR) is one of the complications of the disease, which can lead to serious complications, the most severe of which is rhegmatogenous retinal detachment. The presented clinical case describes late retinal detachment in a child born prematurely, without evidence of RP in the first months after birth.

Keywords
