Abstract

Emotions accompany us in our everyday actions and especially in language communication. In linguistic research, the emphasis usually falls on the linguistic means by which meaning is conveyed. The attitudinal, and especially the emotional, side of our communication is usually underestimated. This has changed in recent years when the attention of researchers from various fields has turned to the role of attitudes and emotions in language learning. Research has unequivocally shown that among the many different factors that influence foreign language acquisition, emotions play a key role. Positive or negative, they directly influence the enhancement or reduction of motivation and, consequently, the success of language learning. This paper focuses on the role of emotional factors on motivation and language acquisition success in order to find more effective approaches to learning.
