Abstract

Clinical laboratory is a medical speciality and scientific discipline designed to provide on the grounds of qualitative and quantitative methods all necessary information pertaining to early diagnostics, control of the dynamics of diseases and the effect of treatment as well as assessment of the level of the health recovery and the ability to work. The clinical laboratory involves research of the chemical and cell compositions of the biological liquids and tissues of the human body within norm and pathology. POCT (point-of-care testing) is defined as diagnostic testing next to or close to the patient - at the time and place of patient care. The aim of this type of testing is to bring the examination near the patient in order to ensure more convenience and timeliness. The practice of performing such tests increases the likelihood for the physician to receive the results on time and make better clinical management decisions.
