Abstract

This text is a modest attempt to pay the deserved and necessary tribute to the Bulgarian scientists, designers, military engineers, and technicians, as well as to the teams from the Plant for Nuclear Instruments and Dosimeters in Pleven and the corresponding Institute to it, for the unique for its time device – RR-51M roentgenometer-radiometer, with which measurements were carried out to urgently clarify the radiation situation of a huge territory of the former Soviet Union, which included the territories of Ukraine, Belarus, and the western part of the Russian Federation, after the unfortunate accident in the V. I. Lenin Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant on April 26,1986.
