Application of seaweed in cosmetics

Abstract

Seaweed (Algae) is the oldest plant form on Earth. rich in vital ingredients for the living organisms. In the past, people were aware of the properties of seaweed and used it externally and internally for different conditions. However, no one was able to explain why those sea plants were associated with effects like energizing the body, mood improvement, wound healing, skin rejuvenation. Today it is well known that many of the active ingredients contained in seaweed are found in the human body as well.

For the first time, seaweed was used as cosmetics in France. After the incredible skin effect became evident, many companies started incorporating them in their formulas. Today seaweed is among the most popular plants showing exceptional anti - aging effect, fighting successfully different types of skin conditions, e.g. dehydration, damages caused by free radicals etc.
