Development of health literacy

Abstract

Health literacy is a relatively new concept, which is a result of health-educational and communication activities.


The limited health literacy is directly related to higher costs for the healthcare system and can further intensify the existing social inequalities.


In recent decades, following the scientific confirmation of the public benefit of raising health literacy, a number of initiatives have been being taken at national and global level.
