Schools for diabetics

Abstract

Structured education for self-management for patients with diabetes mellitus is an inseparable part of the quality care for the patient. Therefore, it is necessary for the current diabetics education programme to undergo change and, as a result of this, to cover more aspects of the patient‘s life. The article investigates possible changes aiming at an improvement of the diabetics education program. Specific measures are discussed, which are to lead to better results from their application, as well as the establishment of diabetes educational centres, expansion of target audience and access to up-to-date information.
