Orthodontic treatment with mandibular expansion plate with two screws (practice case)

Abstract

Orthodontics treatment is a long and complicated process which passes through two stages: curative and retainer. The treatment plan and the appliances are prepared very carefully and precisely after all the required clinical and preclinical tests have been carried out and after a thorough analysis of the collected data has been completed. The aim of the present article is to portray the stages at the beginning of a treatment with mandibular expansion plate with two screws. Patient „A` is the object of the research at the beginning of his treatment which has started with two clinical stages and one laboratory stage. The patient and his parents report that the treatment appliance is comfortable; it easily stays into the patient`s mouth; it does not encumber maintenance of mouth hygiene and does not affect the mental state of the patient. The conclusion we may draw is that the recognition of the problem and the individual approach towards it prove the high professionalism of the multidiscipline team which allowed him to choose the necessary and appropriate appliance and to start a successful orthodontic treatment.
