Paralysis Of The Brachial Plexus – Monitoring A Clinical Case

Abstract

Brachial plexus birth palsy is the most common birth trauma of newborn babies. Reasons for the occurrence of this kind of trauma include pelvic fetal disproportion, macrosomia, precipitate labour, shoulder dystocia.

The purpose of the study is to trail the status of the child with Duchenne-Erb’s palsy, to estimate the degree of recovery and to prepare a plan for adequate and timely care.

Materials and Methods

Medical documentation of Stefan Cherkezov Hospital’s Maternity Ward was used (documental method).

The results showed that adequate midwife care, timely score of the traumatic status, relevant physiotherapy and rehabilitation and proper training of the mother influenced positively the paralysis, the motor function of the upper limb was gradually recovered.
