Abstract

Sarcoidosis is a systemic granulomatous disease of unknown etiology and pathogenesis, in which there is an increased risk of pulmonary thromboembolism (PE). This manuscript presents two clinical cases of PE in patients with sarcoidosis.

Patients with sarcoidosis are at risk of developing PE. All patients with sarcoidosis and impaired respiratory function, especially those with severe and chronic disease, should be closely monitored for the presence of PE due to the potentially fatal nature of the complication.
