Endogenous urea as endocoid: an extrarenal focus

Nikolai D. Temnyalov

Abstract

The present position article summarizes briefly own and literature data concerning the characterization of endogenous urea at extrarenal level in animal and human organism. Both under in vivo and in vitro conditions, we apply urea at physiological and pathological concentrations. We found that urea is an endogenous nonspecific beta-adrenergic receptor antagonist-nonselective, noncompetitive, reversible and nontoxic. Hence we suggest the endogenous urea to be included in the list of endocoids (autacoids).
