Shunning of murburn concept: A sham and a shame!

Kelath Murali Manoj

Abstract

If science is the pursuit of communicable truth and reason; and one which aims to explain natural phenomena, then the continued disregard of murburn concept by research communities is condemnable (particularly: xenobiotic/drug metabolism and mitochondrial physiology fields). Therefore, if one could call a spade a spade, then such a cognitive dissonance and disowning of professional mandates by individuals and institutions MUST be called out. Such ‘status quo’ maintaining outlooks of leadership waylay the interest of the vast majority of our current and all of our future generations, and only serves to preserve the false prestige of a misplaced few at the helms! For, murburn concept is not just a novel explanatory umbrella of life’s chemico-physical foundations with profound impact on health-medicine sectors, imbibing it would also pose immediate and far-reaching impacts in education, research, philosophy and culture.
